These days, booking a holiday can take seconds to do but figuring out when the right time to go takes a lot more effort. Thankfully, a team of travel experts have chalked together a list of destinations and the best seasons in which to visit them.

According to Barclays, three in ten travellers have already booked a getaway for 2025. One in three of those have chosen to visit a new destination. But booking for the wrong season could see you stuck indoors all day due to poor weather.

So, to make sure you catch those cherry blossoms in Japan and enjoy the splendid beaches in the Maldives during dry season, here is a handy when-to-go guide by Away Holiday.

As always, make sure you book well in advance – sometimes even six months in advance – to nab the best deals and ensure you get a spot on your bucket list holiday.

India

Is the Taj Mahal your thing? If so, make sure you book for the cooler, dry season to visit, which is between October to March. Peak season is December to January.

Qatar & UAE

Want to go four-wheel driving along endless sand dunes in the deserts of Qatar and the UAE? If so, make sure you visit between November and March to avoid melting in the heat.

Jordan & Morocco

The best times to visit Jordan and Morocco are March to May (Spring) and September to November (Autumn). These are also the peak periods to visit.

Thailand

If your idea of relaxation is eating delicious food and lazing on gorgeous, plush beaches, then make sure to visit Thailand. The best time to go is the dry season between November and February, which is also the peak season.

Japan

To witness the famous cherry blossoms, visit between March and May, though expect it to be busy. If admiring autumn foliage is your foil, then visit in October and November.

Sri Lanka

The best time to visit Sri Lanka varies depending on where you want to go. For the southwest, go between December and March. For the northeast, plan for some time between April and September.

Cambodia

To catch the cool season, visit Cambodia between November and April. This is also peak season.

USA

To visit the US during mild weather, aim to go in the Spring (April to June) and the Autumn (September to November). Summer (June to August) is a great time for outdoor adventures, while Winter (December to February) is the perfect time for skiing or visiting the warmer southern states.

Australia

Australia has a variety of climates. If you want to visit the south, book your flight for some time between November and April, which is summer. In the north, go during the dry season, which is between May and October. If the outback is what you’re after, then try the cooler months between April and September.
